Painted in thick layers of Annie Sloan chalk paint I always sand items prior to painting to ensure the paint adheres well. The paint has been distressed back to wood in some areas to age it and to reveal the colours of the undercoat. The paint has been applied thickly, in layers and with texture and dribbles. I aim to recreate the feel of a genuinely aged piece.
Finally varnished with floor varnish for a durable finish. This can be dusted with a lightly dampened cloth.
This is a vintage piece and structurally sound and sturdy made from solid and veneer oak. It may have the odd life mark on but is in very good condition. The drawers slide easily, the fold down mechanism works well. The insides are good and clean, the writing area has been painted and varnished. No odour, no woodworm. The desk area is a really good size for a laptop etc. Key still present and functioning.
